Scholarship Host

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), with funding support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Open to individuals, institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other entities advancing girls’ and women’s education.

(ii) Nominations must be submitted by either: Permanent Delegations to UNESCO of Member States, or NGOs officially partnered with UNESCO.

(iii) Self-nominations are not accepted.

(iv) Projects or programs must: Focus on improving girls' and women's access to quality education and promoting gender equality, Align with one or more of the Prize’s five priority areas: participation, literacy, environment, teachers, or skills. Be operational for at least two years (e.g., by May 2023 for the 2025 edition).

Benefits

(i) Two awardees will each receive US$50,000 to further their educational initiatives.

(ii) Global recognition and visibility for their work in promoting education for girls and women.

(iii) Contributions support the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality).
