The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships

Scholarship Host

The Heinrich Böll Foundation offers annual scholarships to approximately 1,500 students from various academic disciplines and nationalities. The scholarship supports those pursuing degrees at universities, universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulen), or universities of the arts (Kunst-/Musikhochschulen) in Germany.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Open to graduate and doctoral students from outside Germany (undergraduate applicants are not eligible).

(ii) Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

(iii) Strong commitment to social and political engagement is required.

(iv) Candidates should align with the foundation’s core values, including sustainability, democracy, human rights, self-determination, and justice.

(v) Proficiency in German is mandatory (minimum B2 level in TestDaF or DSH2).
