Research Fellow – Modelling Gully Erosion to Inform Catchment-Scale Management
Salary
Base Salary (Full-Time Equivalent): $110,464 - $131,180 per annum.
Total Package (Including Superannuation): $129,243 - $153,481 per annum.
Required Qualifications
(i) A PhD or equivalent experience in applied mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
(ii) Demonstrated expertise in model emulation techniques such as surrogate modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
(iii) Strong publication record in high-impact journals.
(iv) Experience in delivering engaging lectures and tutorials in applied mathematics or statistics.
(v) Proven ability to work independently, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
(vi) Experience working with industry and government partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Conduct research aligned with the ARC Industry Fellowship project, focusing on gully erosion and catchment-scale management using advanced modeling techniques.
(ii) Develop and sustain collaborations with industry and allied organizations.
(iii) Apply for research funding to support project objectives.
(iv) Maintain a robust publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
(v) Teach courses in applied mathematics as part of a 20% teaching workload.
(vi) Collaborate with the Queensland Water Modelling Network and co-locate with the Queensland Government Department of Environment, Tourism, Science, and Innovation one day per week.
(vii) Support postgraduate training and contribute to research activities in freshwater and estuarine ecology, catchment processes, and water resource management.
