Scholarship Host

The Swedish Institute (SI) offers this fully-funded scholarship for women from selected African and Asian countries. It supports full-time, one- or two-year master’s studies in Sweden, focusing on programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The initiative aims to advance gender diversity in STEM fields and empower future leaders to contribute to sustainable development.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Eligible Countries: Female applicants must be citizens of one of the 10 eligible countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, and Vietnam.

(ii) Designated Master’s Programs: Applicants must apply to one of the eligible STEM-focused master’s programs in Sweden, with the complete list published on November 1, 2024.

(ii) University Admission: Candidates must meet Swedish university admission requirements and follow the application steps through the University Admissions system.

(iv) Exclusions: Applicants are ineligible if they have previously earned a degree in Sweden, received an SI scholarship, or hold Swedish/EU/EEA citizenship, residency, or dual citizenship with ineligible countries.

(iii) Dual citizens must choose one nationality for their application. Submitting multiple applications using dual citizenship will lead to disqualification.

Benefits

(i) Tuition Fees: Full coverage of tuition fees, paid directly to the university at the start of each semester.

(ii) Living Expenses: Monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to support living costs.

(iii) Travel Grant: One-time travel allowance of SEK 15,000.

(iv) Professional Networking: Access to the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) for career development and networking in Sweden.

(v) Alumni Network: Lifetime membership in the SI Alumni Network for ongoing professional growth.

Scholarship Deadline

(i) Master’s Program Application Period: October 15, 2024 – January 15, 2025

(ii) Application Fee Deadline: February 3, 2025

(iii) University Admission Results: March 27, 2025

(iv) Scholarship Announcement: April 24, 2025
