Job Position

Lead Engineer at the Peter Doherty Institute, University of Melbourne.

Salary

UOM 8 - $119,742 to $129,607 per annum, plus 17% superannuation.

Required Qualification

(i) Bachelor's degree in mechanical (preferred) or a related engineering discipline.

(ii) Experience in building, laboratory, and engineering services, with skills in identifying and diagnosing faults in mechanical, electrical, and other essential services infrastructure.

(iii) Strong financial acumen and project management expertise.

(iv) Familiarity with containment/clean room facilities, compliance standards, and health and safety regulations is highly desirable.

(v) Advanced computer literacy and excellent interpersonal skills.

(vi) Must obtain and maintain a valid Working with Children Check.

Duties and Responsibilities

(i) Lead the engineering team, oversee operations, and ensure the facility's infrastructure supports research and business goals.

(ii) Manage asset performance, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with university policies and regulations.

(iii) Communicate with stakeholders, contribute to cost-saving initiatives, and foster continuous improvement.

(iv) Provide technical guidance to engineers and maintenance staff, ensuring operational excellence at the institute.
