Scholarship Host

The JJ/WBGSP (Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program) is a collaborative initiative between the Government of Japan and the World Bank. It provides funding for master's degree programs in development-related fields. Scholarships are available for 41 designated master's programs across 24 universities in the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Be a citizen of a World Bank member developing country and not hold dual citizenship in a developed country.

(ii) Be in good health.

(iii) Possess a bachelor’s degree obtained at least three years before the application deadline.

(iii) Be employed full-time in a development-related role at the time of application and have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience within the last six years.

(iv) Secure unconditional admission (except for financial support) to one of the JJ/WBGSP participating master's programs outside their home country.

(vi) Not be affiliated with the World Bank Group as an Executive Director, staff member, or close relative of such individuals.

(vii) Not have previously received or declined a JJ/WBGSP scholarship.

Scholarship Benefits

(i) Round-trip economy-class airfare between their home country and the host university, plus a $600 travel allowance per trip.

(ii) Full tuition coverage for the master's program.

(iii) Basic medical insurance provided by the university.

(iv) A monthly living stipend to cover accommodation, food, and other expenses, varying by location.

(v) Scholarships are awarded for the duration of the program, up to a maximum of two years.

Scholarship Deadlines

(i) Window 1: Opens on January 13, 2025, and closes on February 28, 2025 (12:00 noon EST).

(ii) Window 2: Opens on March 25, 2025, and closes on May 23, 2025 (12:00 noon EST).
