Independent Water Advisory Panel Member

Salary

Annual remuneration of $10,000.

Required Qualifications

(i) Candidates must possess academic qualifications and/or extensive experience in at least one of the following fields: Water conservation and demand management in regional areas, Urban water planning and integrated water cycle management.

(ii) A strong understanding of regional water sector challenges and opportunities

(iii) Experience providing strategic and technical advice to government bodies

(iv) Advanced strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills

(v) The ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders

(vi) Experience in addressing complex technical and policy issues

(vii) High ethical and professional standards

Duties and Responsibilities

(i) Provide independent expert advice on urban and regional water management strategies, aligning with NSW water policies such as the NSW Water Strategy, Greater Sydney Water Strategy, Lower Hunter Water Security Plan, and Regional Water Strategies.

(ii) Assist in shaping the long-term strategic framework for water management to enhance security, reliability, and quality of water resources across NSW.

(iii) Offer insights on emerging risks and challenges in urban water management.

(iv) Participate in four full-day meetings annually, with necessary preparation before each session.

(v) Support the expansion of advisory functions to include regional water issues, ensuring sustainable and effective water management.
