Hyundai Motor Group, in partnership with SOAS(School of Oriental and African Studies) University of London, specifically within the College of Development, Economics and Finance and the College of Law, Anthropology and Politics.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Open to African nationals currently residing in Africa

(ii) Applicants must be new international students starting in the 2025/26 academic year

(iii) Available for full-time master’s (1 year) or full-time research (PhD) programmes

(iv) Master’s candidates must hold or be expecting a first-class honours degree (or international equivalent); those with a 2:1 may be considered but are less competitive

(v) PhD candidates must hold or be expecting a distinction-level master’s degree (or equivalent); those with merit-level qualifications may still apply but are not prioritized

(vi) Applicants must apply to SOAS before the scholarship deadline and have an unconditional offer before final selection

(vii) Candidates must meet English language requirements, where applicable

(viii) Part-time and two-year master’s programmes are not eligible

(ix) Assessment is based on academic excellence and alignment with sustainable development goals in Africa

Benefits

(i) Master’s Award: £27,730 total (covers full tuition; any surplus given as a stipend)

(ii) PhD Award: Covers three years of tuition fees, plus fourth-year writing-up fees; includes an annual stipend of £22,780 paid in instalments

(iii) Access to Hyundai-hosted seminars, networking events, and long-term alumni collaboration opportunities

(iv) Eligible students may apply for a Junior Internship Program at SOAS
