Graduate Meteorologist (2026 Intake) – Bureau of Meteorology

Salary

$64,169 annually, plus an additional 15.4% superannuation

Required Qualification

Applicants will complete a paid 10-month Graduate Diploma in Meteorology through the Bureau’s Training Centre in Melbourne. This qualification is internationally recognized and required to begin work as an entry-level meteorologist.

Duties and Responsibilities

(i) Interpret atmospheric and oceanic conditions to develop weather forecasts and warnings

(ii) Communicate critical weather information to various stakeholders and the public

(iii) Provide tailored meteorological insights to sectors like aviation, defence, maritime, emergency services, space weather, and Antarctic operations

(iv) Contribute to public safety by influencing behavior through clear, customer-focused forecasting and analysis

(v) Upon completion of training, participate in further job readiness preparation at Bureau locations in major cities or ADF bases across Australia
