Scholarship Host

American University (AU) offers the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship (AU EGLS) to promote educational access, enhance international diversity, and support students dedicated to civic and social change in their home countries.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Must be an international student requiring a non-immigrant visa (preferably F-1 or J-1) to study in the U.S.

(ii) Must not be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, dual citizen, or already enrolled in post-secondary studies.

(iii) Must have graduated secondary school in 2023 or later.

(iv) A minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 4.0 (or top 10% of the graduating class).

(v) Proficiency in English, demonstrated through one of the specified tests (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, etc.).

(vi) Demonstrated leadership, volunteerism, and commitment to community service.

(vii) Preference for students from diverse, underrepresented, or socioeconomically challenged backgrounds.

Benefits

(i) Full AU EGLS: Covers all billable expenses (full tuition, room, and board) for up to four years.

(ii) Partial AU EGL Scholarships: Up to eight additional scholarships, each valued at up to $40,000 per year.

Scholarship Deadline

Step 1: Submit the Common or Coalition application and all supporting documents by December 1, 2024.

Step 2: Submit the AU EGLS application and essays via the applicant portal by December 1, 2024.

Notification of selection by April 1, 2025.
