The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program, supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

Eligibility Criteria

Open to exceptional postdoctoral researchers, both from Canada and internationally, who demonstrate high potential for leadership in research and can positively impact Canada’s economic, social, and research landscape. Applications must be developed in collaboration with a proposed host institution that aligns with the applicant's research goals.

Benefits

The fellowship offers $70,000 per year (taxable) for a duration of 2 years. A total of 70 fellowships are awarded annually, with the possibility of more if additional funds become available.

Scholarship Deadline

April to September 2024: Applicants must seek endorsement from their host institution and prepare their application.

September 17, 2024 (20:00 EDT): Final application submission deadline.

Mid-February 2025: Notification of results.

April to October 2025: Fellowship payments begin.
