Scholarship Host

Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, in partnership with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Stellenbosch University.

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Must have obtained at least 75% in the previous degree.

(ii) Provide a writing sample (Honours research essay or relevant academic publication).

(iii) Applicants must be under 30 years old when applying.

(iv) Must apply to study at Stellenbosch University in addition to the scholarship.

(v) Not required to have a supervisor at the time of application but should research available supervisors.

(vi) Recommendations include previous publications, awards, professional experience, and proficiency in languages besides English.

Benefits

(i) Total scholarship amount of R170,000 for two years.

(ii) Covers study fees and provides an allowance.

(iii) May include funds for research activities, writing retreats, conference attendance, and publication costs up to R19,189.
