Eligibility Criteria

(i) Open to self-funded international students who are ordinarily resident in a member state of the African Union.

(ii) Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree with the following academic requirements:

(a) Egypt: £6,500 scholarship for 2:1 or above (or equivalent).

(b) Ghana: £4,500 scholarship for 2:1 or CGPA 3.0/4.0 or 3.5/5.0.

(c) Nigeria: £4,500 scholarship for CGPA 3/5, 2.5/4.0, 4.0/6.0, or 4.0/7.0, including pass grades for approved medical degrees.

(d) Other African Union States: £4,500 scholarship for 2:1 or above (or equivalent).

Students must enroll in a full-time postgraduate taught program in October 2025 or January 2026 (e.g., MA, MSc, LLM, MFA, MPP, MBM).

(iii) Cannot be combined with other University of Essex scholarships or discounts.

(iv) Must be available for promotional activities and maintain self-funded status.

Benefits

Scholarship amounts range from £4,500 to £6,500, applied as a discount to tuition fees for the first year of study.
